Dr. Elton Fredrick Afari

Dr. Elton Fredrick Afari is the Chief Executive Officer of Equity Health Insurance (EHI). Prior to joining EHI, he was the Director of Marketing and Strategy at Cosmopolitan Health Insurance, where he led the organization in delivering innovative, robust, and cost-effective insurance products to businesses of all sizes. His leadership helped expand the company’s offerings to corporate, medium-sized, and small enterprises.

A visionary, Dr. Afari is recognized as the main “Idea Generator” behind Cosmopolitan Health Insurance and was a pioneer member of its senior management team. He is credited with introducing health insurance for the retail segment of Ghana’s private health insurance market, a breakthrough that was launched through Vodafone Ghana’s GSM platform.

Dr. Afari holds a PhD in Business Administration and has completed a certificate in Strategy and Marketing from Harvard Business School. He also holds a BSc. (Hons) and an MBA in Marketing from Central University College and the University of Ghana Business School, respectively.

His career includes diverse roles such as Head of Sales at Acacia Health Insurance, Chief Marketing and Events Manager at Pravda Radio (Vision 1 FM), and Customer Service Representative at Vodafone Ghana Limited. He also worked with Joy FM, a member of the Multimedia Group, where he produced top programs like “Drive Time,” “Feedback,” and “Ultimate Health.”.

In addition to his formal qualifications, Dr. Afari has completed several short courses in Insurance, Risk Management, Finance, and Negotiation, making him a well-rounded leader in the health insurance sector.
